We do this by virtually connecting pregnant and postpartum communities to peer coaches to promote healing, prevent anxiety and depression. Our 501(c)(3) non-profit is supercharged by philanthropic foundations and individual donors who believe in our mission.

Role Overview: The Chief of Staff partners closely with the Founder & CEO to grow our reach and deepen engagement with mamas and birthing parents. This role blends strategic thought partnership with hands-on execution. The right person is as energized to streamline our Medicaid operational processes as they are to strategize and execute on deepening engagement with birthing parents. They are a skilled project manager who cares deeply about birth equity, and can build strong relationships with our community, team, and partners. Marketing, data storytelling and team management will scale as the role and team grow.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy, Growth & Execution

Partner with the CEO to rigorously evaluate, prioritize, and sequence growth opportunities

Own product improvements to deepen engagement, retention, and impact

Set engagement and impact metrics with team, analyze data, and share insights to inform decisions

Oversee marketing efforts to grow reach including scoping, hiring, and managing needed social media and community engagement consultants

As role and team grows, use quantitative and qualitative data to drive storytelling across fundraising, board reporting, and community communications
Operations & Infrastructure

Streamline operations for our Medicaid contract including workflows, billing, and reporting

Build operational systems that enable seamless execution on future contracts and partnerships

Build and implement systems for project management including decision and outcome tracking

Maintain HIPAA compliance across all community-facing products and programs

Oversee HR operations and compliance through Justworks including onboarding, benefits administration, and policy adherence
Team and Organizational Culture

Create thoughtful internal communication channels to build team cohesion in remote environment

Hire and manage a team as the organization grows

Proactively surface organizational gaps and bottlenecks
Qualifications
-
7+ years of experience in strategy, operations, and/or product
-
At least 2-3 years in early-stage startup (ideally health tech) or tech nonprofit

Strong data analytics skills in Excel and product fluency

Strong project management skills with proven ability to support others in building the same

Familiarity with healthcare and HIPAA compliance - experience with Medicaid or government contracts a plus

Experience hiring, building out, and managing team including consultants

Proactive, execution-oriented mindset with high ownership

Excellent written and verbal communication
What Our Roots Offers:
This is a full-time exempt salaried position. The salary range is $110,000 - $140,000 and is commensurate with your location and experience. Our Roots offers a competitive benefits package inclusive of vacation, holidays, sick days, health insurance/stipend, and 401k. The role also includes opportunities to grow within a nimble, mission-driven team.
